What Makes Canon Plotters Different?

FINE stands for "Full-photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering" .

These technologies simultaneously realize both super high-resolution and high-speed printings. The high-precision print heads are manufactured by utilizing the latest semiconductor manufacturing technology to provide an integrated nozzle design. Also, the ink ejection technology achieves size uniformity of 4pl micro fine droplet and droplet placement accuracy. FINE achieves the essential elements for large format printing with high quality such as 2400 x 1200 dpi high-resolution, smoother gradation, and reduction of graininess. At the same time, its high-drive frequency also contributes to high-speed printing.

  • Technology for high speed printing with 12 colorsEquipped with 2 1inch wide heads that have twice the existing number of nozzles for each color, 2,560 nozzles X 6 colors. With this miraculous high density double head with a total of 30,720 nozzles for the 12 colors it is able to maintain a high resolution and still improve the output speed.

  • It is possible to express ink both coming and going during bi-directional printing with the high speed printing technology using the symmetrical optimum arrangement of the 2 print heads for the cyan, photo cyan and photo magenta. This helps control the difference in color resulting from the colors overlapping and makes it possible to have high speed output without uneven images by using a smaller number of printing passes

12-Color Pigment Inks to Satisfy Demanding Professionals

Lucia

Canon developed its LUCIA pigment inks to meet professional demand for fine-art-quality printing that can render natural tones in color and black-and-white for photos while also producing vivid artificial colors for industrial design output.

In addition to the six standard colors for largeformat printers, LUCIA employs three primary colors - red, green, and blue (RGB) - and two shades of gray. This has improved total imaging performance, making possible enhanced metallic glossiness, reduced graininess, and more robust images.

Reactive Ink Technology

Developed for printing CAD and business documents, Canon's reactive ink technology exploits the reaction between CMYK dye inks and pigment-based matte black ink to prevent blurring along the edges of text characters and lines. When combined, five-color dye and pigment reactive inks create clear, crisp black output, making possible the printing of ultra-fine lines and ultra-small text with a placement accuracy of ±0.1% and a minimum line width of 0.02 mm.

High-Speed Performance, from Image Processing to Printer Control

L-COA

Capitalizing on its strength in System On Chip (SOC) technology, Canon developed the L-COA processor for large-format printers to process large-volume image data at high speeds while controlling the print heads and the ejection of 12 ink colors. L-COA integrates protocol processing, image processing, and printer control - functions that had been previously handled by multiple chips - onto a single chip for faster signal processing and high-resolution printing.

Auto-Color Calibration

Large-format printers are often used for professional applications such as artwork and photo output. Previously, troublesome color management processes were necessary to reproduce colors as intended by the creators of the data, but Canon's auto-color calibration function performs these adjustments automatically.

High-performance multi-sensors inside the printer examine print results during pattern printing and optimize printer density characteristics to achieve stable color performance.

PosterArtist Software

Canon PosterArtist software for large-format printers offers an intuitive interface enabling anyone to easily create professional-looking posters. The software includes Canon's proprietary Dynamic Layout Engine (DLE) technology for automatic text and photo layout, as well as a Canon-developed auto-design function that draws on the know-how of professional designers. Users simply feed in a minimum amount of data, such as text or images, along with ideas for what the finished product should look like, and the software automatically creates design drafts in optimal color arrangements and layouts, enabling the easy creation of professional-quality large-format posters.
